Fastest Century in IPL

Fastest Century in IPL

Known for its fast-paced innings and high-octane power hitting, the IPL has witnessed many brilliant batting performances and is the pedestal for every batter who has played in the league to produce the fastest knock of century. Some players rarely achieve the feat and are, therefore, remembered for their powerful knock. This is why a recorded history exists for the IPL century-makers, but those who have topped the fastest centuries in the IPL are written down in the golden words of the IPL hall of fame. Let’s check out the fastest century in IPL. List of Fastest Century in IPL 1. Chris Gayle- The Undisputed Ultimate “Universe Boss (30 balls) On April 23rd, 2013, Chris Gayle came up with the fastest century in IPL history, an absolutely contrasting 100 off 30 balls, and stood out while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors India. A few overs of aerial shots were bowled away until he hit an unimaginable 175* off 66 balls, interspersed with 13 fours and 17 sixes. This knock saw Gayle etching his name in history for the fastest century in the IPL as well as for the highest score, two records standing to this day. 2. Vaibhav Suryavanshi – Youngest & Fastest Indian (35 balls) In a remarkable outing in IPL 2025, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old prodigy, racked up a 35-ball IPL century, thus becoming the second fastest century in the IPL and the fastest ever by an Indian. He also became the youngest centurion in the IPL. Thanks to his innings, the Rajasthan Royals were victorious against the Gujarat Titans. His unbelievable knock consisted of 7 fours and 11 sixes, the name resonated loudly throughout the cricketing cosmos. 3. Heinrich Klaasen – SRH Power Hitter (37 Balls) Heinrich Klaasen did it again in 2025 while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He got a 37-ball century (105* vs KKR at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi), thereby equalling Yusuf Pathan’s record set back in the 2010 season. Klaasen also became the joint-fastest centurion in IPL history at number 3. The man smashed nine sixes in his innings. His thrilling innings helped SRH post an imposing 278/3, the third-highest total in IPL history.  4. Yusuf Pathan – The Early Blitz (37 Balls) Back in 2010, Yusuf Pathan hammered a 37-ball century as a player for the Rajasthan Royals against the Mumbai Indians. Thus, he was joint-3rd with Klaasen, well before the “deceptive” speed demon cape was bestowed on anyone. 5. David Miller – Steady Destructor (38 Balls) David Miller made 100 with 38 balls in the 2013 IPL edition for Kings XI Punjab against Royal Challengers Bangalore, putting him into the ranks of statistically one of the fastest centurions in IPL history. KXIP fans still fondly remember Miller’s punishing knocks that day. 6. Travis Head – Blasting Into 2024 (39 balls) In 2024, Travis Head hit a 39-ball century with deadly dispatches for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Royal Challengers Bangalore. A scoring rate breakneck, he managed 102 runs off an improbable 41 short deliveries.  7. Priyansh Arya – Young Talent (39 balls) During the 2025 season, Priyansh Arya struck a 39-ball century for Punjab Kings against CSK. Priyansh’s emergence signals a wave of new talents coming in at breathtaking speeds.  8. Abhishek Sharma – The SRH-Hitter (40 balls) Another SRH batsman, Abhishek Sharma, joined the prestigious fastest IPL centuries club with a 40-ball hundred against PBKS in Hyderabad. Honorable Mentions What Makes These Innings Special? IPL 2025: A Season of Speed In a twist of sorts, the years 2025 saw three of the seven fastest hundreds in the IPL: Suryavanshi (35), Klaassen (37), Arya (39).  So we are witnessing a gradual fading out of known names from the centers of attraction in the IPL. New talents challenge and elevate the definition of what is possible. List of Top 10 Fastest Century in IPL Rank Player Balls Team Year Notes 1 Chris Gayle 30 RCB 2013 IPL & T20 fastest century 2 Vaibhav Suryavanshi 35 RR 2025 Fastest by an Indian & youngest ever 3 Klaasen / Pathan 37 SRH / RR 2025 / 2010 Joint 3rd fastest 5 David Miller 38 KXIP 2013 6 Travis Head / Arya 39 SRH / PBKS 2024 / 2025 Joint 4th fastest 8 Abhishek Sharma 40 SRH 2025 9 Will Jacks 41 RCB 2024 10 Adam Gilchrist 42 DC 2008 Why These Feats Are Game-Changers Will Gayle’s Record of 30-Ball Century Be Broken? Chris Gayle’s record has been in existence for over a dozen years, and with the kind of bowling in the IPL and alterations involving formats, it has been, and will always be, difficult for today’s power hitters to do so. But with youngsters coming into their own like Suryavanshi and Arya, we would thoroughly love to see some surprises. Conclusion The fastest century in IPL history isn’t just a stat; it represents superiority, bravado, and a new evolution to the game, from Gayle’s famous carnage in 2013, to teenage possessive Suryavanshi in 2025, and the ordorous slaughter of Klassen’s paltry 37 balls, no doubt the T20s are going in new measures as IPL continues to find its growth. New stars will emerge, older veterans will get sharper, and undoubtedly you will see more unmatched explosions, and who knows, maybe we all get to witness someone attempt to complete a century in under 30 balls.
